MEET THE OWNER
Art is life to me. I started creating in my younger school years where I tried every art medium, including Metal Tech! I took college art courses in the Midwest and abroad in South America. I became a California Credentialed teacher because I love teaching and life-long learning. I continue teaching because I love seeing students transform into confident and accomplished learners. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding teaching experiences I’ve had is facilitating art expression to students with disabilities. I have five years of dedicated experience teaching and enriching the lives of clients with diagnoses such as Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, and Autism, including those with physical limitations.
With Peace of HeART, it’s my mission and passion to develop, enrich, and celebrate the artistic abilities of all creatives!
Over the years I have taught art to a variety of learners of all ages and abilities, individually and in groups. I have hosted and instructed paint parties in studios, homes and public event settings. Peace of HeART grew from my desire to share my love of art, and art as a form of healthy self-care and personal growth for people of all ages and abilities.
Life is stressful, and most of us have our challenging days. After a period in my life where I experienced several losses and extreme hardship, I was diagnosed with chronic anxiety. Some days it was paralyzing, and at one point the debilitating panic attacks were a daily challenge. In addition to holistic healthcare, I found that when I spent time creating, my anxiety was manageable and sometimes absent. Once I committed to staying creatively active, I managed to reduce all of my anxiety symptoms to where they are hardly noticeable. I created Peace A.R.T. for others to experience the holistic benefits of renewing their creative soul.
Art has been my passion for over twenty years! My major influences are Georgia O’Keeffe, Vincent Van Gogh, and Bob Ross, although my favorite artists also include Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dalí, and Auguste Rodin. My art has been shown in galleries and art shows, and has won awards and recognition. My art includes painting with oils, acrylics and watercolors, drawing with various mediums, and photography. My themes include botanical imagery, landscapes, portraits and abstracts. My art isn’t limited to the traditional studio setting. I enjoy upcycling furniture and furnishings to get that one-of-a-kind look! I also love to create my own jewelry! My camera has travelled with me extensively throughout South America and I’ve enjoyed capturing the essence of the people and places I’ve visited. I have also enjoyed photographing milestone events of friends and families, including weddings, births, engagements and other special celebrations. You can find some of my art at www.cinnamongirlart.com.
Outside of the studio, you will find me gaining inspiration through cooking, reading, exercising, playing ukulele, walking through Downtown Oceanside with my fur baby, Bongo, or riding along the coast on my Harley. Beyond my hobbies outside of the studio, I have a strong passion for Spanish language and culture, which influences my art and travel destinations. You will find some of our workshops celebrate these amazing cultures. I dedicate time each day to pray in gratitude, because I have been blessed with artistic talent and a heart for teaching, and I finally feel like I have found my calling and purpose through Peace of HeART Expressions.
So there’s my story. What’s your art story? At Peace of HeART you will find the nurturing and inspiring environment to create, grow in confidence, and have fun! I would love to help you explore your undiscovered talents and develop your creative potential! Come and join us in the journey to peace of heART!
